Cases: Assoc. of American Physicians v. Brewer: Circuit Court FilingsLegal Center Files Amicus Brief Supporting Arizona Public Financing On September 14, 2005, the Legal Center submitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit an unopposed motion for leave to file a brief as amicus curiae and a proposed brief as amicus curiae in Association of American Physicians & Surgeons v. Brewer. This appeal concerns, among other things, whether Arizona's matching funds provision of its public financing system hinders the ability of individuals and groups to engage in protected free speech, and whether the public financing system constitutionally encourages voluntary compliance with spending limits in exchange for public campaign financing. The trial court upheld Arizona's public financing system, and our amicus curiae brief urges the court of appeals to affirm the lower court's decision. To view the brief, click here. |
