FEC: Comments Filed by CLC & Democracy 21 on Commissioner Goodman's Rulemaking Proposal and Urging the FEC to Address More Pressing Rulemaking Priorities

Date

The Campaign Legal Center joined Democracy 21 in expressing strong opposition to Commissioner Goodman’s rulemaking proposal to provide “regulatory relief for political parties,” which was on the agenda for the Commission’s December 17, 2015 meeting.  Instead the groups urged the Commission to address more pressing rulemaking priorities, including another proposal on the agenda from Commissioner Weintraub and Chair Ravel that targets the ongoing abuse of the Commission’s coordination rules by candidate-specific Super PACs that, as a functional matter, operate as arms of the candidate campaigns they support.
