U.S. Senate: Letter from CLC Responding to Chamber of Commerce Comments on DISCLOSE Act

Date

A letter written by the Campaign Legal Center strongly urging the Senate to carefully consider the unsettling and potentially dangerous consequences of the approach advocated by the Chamber of Commerce, expressing opposition to S. 2219, the DISCLOSE 2012 Act, which is expected to be considered soon by the Senate Rules Committee. The letter by the Chamber of Commerce claims that the effort to increase transparency in elections in the aftermath of the ground-shifting Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission (FEC) is, at its base, partisan.
