Cleveland Plain Dealer: Federal Election Commission allows parties to form new committees to fund political conventions

Public Citizen, Democracy 21 and the Campaign Legal Center filed objections at the Federal Election Commission that argued against altering federal campaign contribution limits to the national political parties that were established after the Watergate scandal.

"What the party committees are seeking is nothing short of permission to violate the laws passed by Congress," said a statement from Larry Noble of the Campaign Legal Center.
