Jan 9, 2007 -- Reform Groups Urge Senators to Support Reid Amendment to Reid-McConnell Substitute On January 9, 2007, reform groups sent a letter to Senators to support the amendment offered by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) to the Reid-McConnell substitute, which is currently pending on the Senate floor.
The full letter is below. ______________________________________________________
January 9, 2007
Our organizations strongly urge you to support the Reid amendment to the Reid-McConnell substitute pending on the Senate floor.
The Reid amendment would establish new restrictions on lobbyists and lobbying organizations paying for trips and gifts, including meals and entertainment, for Senators and staff and would require Senators to pay charter fares, not first-class fares, for the use of corporate planes.
We urge you to vote for the Reid amendment and to oppose any weakening amendments to any of the provisions in the Reid amendment.
